Princesses Eugenie and Beatrice attended church with the royal family on Christmas morning, in a year where their father Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor was stripped of his royal titles.
Mountbatten-Windsor’s two daughters could be seen walking behind King Charles III and Queen Camilla on their way to church on the private Sandringham estate in Norfolk.
Mountbatten-Windsor was not present, nor was his former wife Sarah Ferguson, who last attended the Christmas Day service in Sandringham in 2023.
The king and queen led the family along the short distance from Sandringham House to St Mary Magdalene church for an hour-long service which began at 11am.
Eugenie and Beatrice could be seen with their husbands, Jack Brooksbank and Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi respectively.
Mountbatten-Windsor is believed to be spending Christmas at his Royal Lodge home near Windsor Castle, after the former Duke of York was stripped of his titles by his brother over his friendship to the convicted child sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
Queen Elizabeth II’s second son is expected to soon vacate the Royal Lodge for the Marsh Farm property on the Sandringham estate. It is currently being renovated.
Also in attendance were the Prince and Princess of Wales, with their children, and the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh.
The Princess Royal and her husband, V Adm Sir Timothy Laurence, were seen walking close behind the king and queen.
Anne’s daughter, Zara Tindall, and her husband, the former England rugby international Mike Tindall, were seen a few steps behind King Charles.
Hundreds gathered to watch the royals walk to the Christmas morning church service on a bright and sunny morning in East Anglia.
The service brings to an end a turbulent year for the royal family. King Charles recently announced the “good news” that he had scaled back his cancer treatment after his diagnosis in 2024. He urged the importance of early diagnosis and treatment to save lives.
However, new information about Mountbatten-Windsor’s ties to Epstein have continued to emerge, along with details about his rental situation.
He was forced to give up his Royal Lodge home amid an outcry about the peppercorn rent he had been paying for the property.
