Stuart Kettlewell has been sacked by struggling Kilmarnock after eight defeats in ten matches.
The Rugby Park club brought in the former Ross County and Motherwell boss during the summer and although things started well enough, an alarming dip in form has seen Killie slide to second bottom of the Scottish Premiership, just three points ahead of Livingston having played a game more.
With assistant manager Stevie Frail also being shown the door in the wake of the weekend loss to Aberdeen at Pittodrie, Kris Doolan will take over on an interim basis.
“This has been a difficult decision taken after careful consideration,” said a club statement.
“We believe there is plenty of quality in the squad and had hoped that results would turn around. Unfortunately change is now required to best serve the interests of Kilmarnock FC.
“With an important run of festive fixtures about to get under way, starting this weekend at home to Falkirk, we hope all supporters can stick with us as we aim to get back to winning ways.”
