Donald Trump’s coastguard transformation offers exclusive accommodation, writes JULENA DRUMI


The transformation of a 19th century coastguard station into a row of luxury home-from-home cottages for visitors is the latest offer at Donald Trump’s Aberdeenshire golf resort. Overlooking its two championship courses, the Great North Sea Residences which have been officially unveiled by golfing legends Paul McGinley and Bo Van Pelt.

The collection of five residences offers guests panoramic views, a residents’ putting green and private terraces as well as five-star hotel and concierge services.

Former Ryder Cup captain Paul McGinley said the accommodation has brought” a whole new dimension to the accommodation at the resort.”

Dating back to the mid-19th century, and built in Belhelvie Blue granite, the façade of the building has been weathered by time and tide. Interiors include cast-iron log burning stoves and woodland-toned paneling.

Sarah Malone, executive vice president at Trump International, Scotland, said: “While they will be particularly attractive to visiting golfers, the residences are also available to other groups and families.”

Main lounge in the Great North Residences

Four of the residences can up accommodate up to five guests each and the fifth can cater up to three guests. The residences can be booked for short or long stays, with packages starting from £1,500 per night.
