Largo Arts Week

The seventh Largo Arts Week features work by about 30 artists and craftworkers who are opening their homes and studios in Lower Largo, Lundin Links and Upper Largo.

Paintings, wood carvings, pottery and textiles are among the items produced by a mix of full-timers and hobbyists. There are also performances by local musicians, a poetry evening, storytelling, competitions and workshops.

Following the success of last year’s ‘Lundie Seals’ auction which raised more than £5,000, this year’s charity event is the ‘Selkirk Seagull’s’ auction, raising funds for Maggie’s, Fife.

Largo Arts Week runs until 26 July, entry is free

Gwen John at Modern Two

Taking over Modern Two at the Scottish Gallery of Modern Art is Gwen John: Strange Beauties is the first major exhibition in Scotland devoted to the pioneering painter.

Featuring rarely seen drawings and watercolours – many on show for the first time – it offers fresh insight into her quiet yet determined artistic vision.

Gwen John’s Young Woman with a Coral Necklace (1910-1920) will go on public display for the first time since 1964, especially for this exhibition in Edinburgh.

Marking 150 years since the Welsh artist was born, Gwen John: Strange Beauties will offer a fresh new perspective on her exquisite work and lasting legacy. Experience over 200 oil paintings, watercolours, and rarely seen sketches and archive materials across two floors of Modern Two.

Gwen John: Strange Beauties runs from 1 August until 4 January 2027
