Rangers coach Danny Rohl is expected to leave Glasgow to join RB Salzburg after agreeing terms with the Austrian club.
The German will cut short his contract at Ibrox where the board is already being linked with a move for Hearts coach Derek McInnes.
Rohl, 37, joined Rangers only last October and succeeded in lifting the team from a lowly sixth place in the Scottish Premiership into title contenders until a poor run of results in the final weeks of the season.
He is said to have been on the Salzburg shortlist for some time. He began his coaching career under RB Leipzig.
In 2023 he took over at Sheffield Wednesday, but left amid the turmoil under its former owner Dejphon Chansiri.
Attention now turns to a successor at Ibrox, with former Rangers player McInnes, 54, top of the list. He came within minutes of landing the first title for the Tynecastle club since 1960 until conceding two late goals and falling to defeat at Celtic in the last game of the season.
He would be reunited with ex-Hearts captain Lawrence Shankland at Ibrox after the striker arrived in Glasgow for free earlier this month.
McInnes may finally join the Ibrox outfit nine years after Rangers first attempted to lure him back to the club during his days at the helm of Aberdeen.
