‘Open up North Sea and cut migrants’ says Trump – Daily Business

Donald Trump: ‘not happy with the UK’

Donald Trump today turned on Sir Keir Starmer and the Labour government, calling for the UK to “open up the North Sea” and deal with illegal immigrants.

In a coruscating reference to the Prime Minister’s failure to support his mission in Iran, the US president said this was “not Winston Churchill we are dealing with”.

Speaking from the Oval Office, he criticised the decision of the UK to import energy supplies from Norway instead of using its own resources in the same region.

He said he was “not happy with the UK” over its decision on the Chagos islands which caused the US problems is not being able to land there.

Commenting on the Iran mission, he said some of the European nations “have been great, some have been terrible”, adding that he would “cut off all trade with Spain” for its “unfriendly” approach to defence.

“Spain has been very uncooperative and so has UK. The second one is shocking. But this is not the age of Churchill. The UK has been very, very uncooperative.

“That stupid island that they have that they gave away and took a hundred year lease… they ruined relationships. It’s a shame.

“That country, the UK, and I love that country, my mother was born there, but the UK, what they are doing with energy and with immigration is horrible.”

He repeated his earlier comments about wind turbines, stating at a press conference that the UK has “windmills all over the place that are ruining the country and the landscape.

“Open up the North sea. They [the UK] buy their energy from Norway which gets its energy from the North Sea and the UK has the better part of the North Sea.

“Number two, illegal immigration. They have got to solve that problem and I must say it is not only the UK.”

Mr Trump accused the Iranians of being “mentally ill, sick people” and said he had to attack following failed negotiations with “lunatics”.
