Alpine skier Cormac Comerford is competing in his first Olympics and will take part in four events in Milan-Cortina.
The 29-year-old is racing in his first Olympics after three previous attempts and crowdfunding helped him reach the Games in Italy.
He started in the Downhill in Bormio, where he finished in 34th place after a practice crash, and will also race in the Super-G, Giant Slalom and Slalom.
Comerford, who learnt to ski at the Kilternan dry slopes, works as a mechanical engineer in the off-season and spends the winter training and competing across Europe.
