Supplier to restaurants acquired by NI wholesaler – Daily Business

JB Foods operates from Loanhead

Edinburgh wholesaler JB Foods has been acquired by a family-owned Northern Ireland business which sees growth opportunities across Scotland.

JB Foods has operated in Midlothian for 60 years, supplying chefs and professional kitchens, and will now join Lynas Foodservice, based in Coleraine.

Lynas operates three distribution centres in Lusk, Galway, and Glasgow, employing 600 staff and supplying more than 5,000 hotels, restaurants, and school kitchens.

The two businesses are already connected via foodservice buying group Caterforce.

In a statement, Andrew Lynas, managing director of Lynas Foodservice said: “Bringing our two businesses together gives us the scale, infrastructure and Scottish warehousing capacity to deliver even better availability, broader choice and a stronger service for caterers right across the country.

“This is a significant step in strengthening our long-term commitment to Scotland and supporting future growth.”

JB Foods will continue to trade under its current name, and managing director Lee Brown and commercial director Charlotte Brown will stay on.
