Marble Hospitality confirms its first 5-star hotel foray in Sandton

Marble Hospitality, the group renowned for its premium dining and entertainment offerings, is expanding its portfolio with the launch of its first five-star luxury hotel at the Olympus development in Sandton.

The Johannesburg-based group confirmed the expansion plans into the hotels sector last week, saying the 32-room establishment will form part of the Marble Hospitality collection.

Construction on the hotel and the broader mixed-use development began in late November, with completion set for the end of 2027.

The new venture is the result of a partnership with Tricolt Group, the developers behind Olympus Sandton – a new twin-tower residential project between Tricolt and JSE-listed Growthpoint Properties.

The hotel will occupy two full floors of Tower 2 (Apollo), situated beneath the penthouses.

The hotel is said to represent the next evolution of the Marble brand, building on its established reputation for luxury dining in Johannesburg and Cape Town.

Gary Kyriacou, Marble Hospitality founder and partner, said, “This new hotel represents our vision to redefine luxury accommodation in South Africa,” bringing the group’s experiential approach to accommodation.

Operations director Dino Constantinou added that hotels are the “pinnacle of hospitality” for the group.

The property ownership is split 50/50 between Marble Hospitality and Tricolt.

However, Marble Hospitality retains complete control of the running and management of the hotel. The interior design will be handled by Irene Kyriacou, interior director for Marble Hospitality, alongside award-winning designer Tristan du Plessis.

Integration with Sandton footprint

The hotel is designed to complement Marble’s existing presence in Sandton, which includes the flagship Marble Restaurant offering 360-degree views from the 18th floor of Olympus, and The Pantry by Marble on the ground floor.

The hotel will also include a ground-level breakfast and lunch offering in the Athena tower.

The broader Olympus Sandton mixed-use development, a collaboration between Growthpoint Properties and Tricolt, is designed with sculptural curved façades and is targeting a 4-star Green Star rating.

The project has achieved over R1.2 billion in sales.

Marble Hospitality’s existing portfolio also includes the Saint Restaurant, the luxurious lounge bar Zioux, a second Marble location in Cape Town, and the Marble Circus events arm.
