On Friday, English rock band The Cure<\/a><\/span> announced on social media that keyboardist-guitarist Perry Bamonte<\/a><\/span> (who was also known by the nickname “Teddy”) had died from an unspecified illness over Christmas.\n<\/p>\n

He had been with the band since 1990 when he replaced keyboardist Roger O’Donnell<\/a><\/span>, after he had served as frontman Robert Smith<\/a><\/span>‘s guitar tech since 1984. His first credited release with the band was 1992’s Wish<\/a><\/span><\/i>.\n<\/p>\n

The Cure fired him in 2005, but he returned in 2022. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall<\/a><\/span> of Fame in 2019.\n<\/p>\n

Bamonte was originally from London, and was born in 1960. His bandmates described him as “quiet, intense, intuitive, constant and hugely creative” in the statement announcing his death.\n<\/p>\n
