Diageo\u2019s flagship hospitality skills programme, Learning for Life, has marked another strong year, helping 838 people get into the hospitality industry.<\/p>\n
The spirits company, who brands include Johnnie Walker whisky and Guinness, has delivered the programme with the hospitality charity Springboard.<\/p>\n
The last year saw 778 graduates complete the course across the UK, with 265 of those based in Scotland. <\/p>\n
London, Glasgow, and Birmingham were the top three locations for new participants, with 188, 111, and 86 new starts respectively, reflecting both the demand for skilled talent and the programme\u2019s growing reach.<\/p>\n
Hilton, Nando\u2019s, and The Ivy employed the largest number of Learning for Life graduates this year.<\/p>\n
2025 also saw graduates participate in high-profile trade and consumer events that brought their skills and confidence to the spotlight including the Burns Supper at the Scottish Consulate in London as well as supporting Diageo\u2019s Johnnie Walker Drop in Edinburgh.<\/p>\n
Gillian Dalziel, Learning for Life programme manager at Diageo, said\u00a0\u201cIt\u2019s so rewarding to see our graduates apply their skills, confidence, and passion in real workplace settings \u2013 whether behind the bar, on the floor, or in front-of-house. <\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m immensely proud of everything they\u2019ve achieved and how they\u2019ve embraced every opportunity the programme offers. We can\u2019t wait to build on this success in 2026 and continue helping more people launch their careers in hospitality.\u201d<\/p>\n
Kelly Johnstone, chief operations officer at Springboard and chair of the Scottish Tourism and Hospitality Skills Group, added:\u00a0\u201cThis year has reinforced the vital role of Learning for Life in building the UK\u2019s hospitality talent pipeline which continues to face a shortage of skilled workers.<\/p>\n

Recent graduate Jack Rudkin highlighted the value of the programme, noting\u00a0\u201cBefore joining Learning for Life, I didn\u2019t feel confident about finding a job in hospitality. <\/p>\n
\u201cI thought I didn\u2019t have enough experience. My time on this course has changed that. I\u2019ve learned so many practical skills, but the biggest difference has been in myself. I feel more confident, more positive, and more excited about what comes next.\u201d<\/p>\n
With over 8,000 graduates in the UK since its launch, Learning for Life continues to break down barriers, equip people with the skills they need, and open doors to sustainable careers across the hospitality sector.<\/p>\n
