It was the worst-kept \u2018secret\u2019 in South Africa\u2019s hotel development industry last year (which Moneyweb first \u2018broke\u2019 in 2024), but US hotels and resorts giant Marriott International finally confirmed the entry of its super-luxury EDITION Hotels brand into Cape Town\u2019s iconic V&A Waterfront on Thursday, as part of the more than R1 billion Quay 7 hotel project.<\/p>\n
Executives at V&A Waterfront Holdings \u2013 jointly owned by JSE-listed Growthpoint Properties and the Government Employees Pension Fund (GEPF) \u2013 signed the agreement with Marriott International executives, which will mark the hotel brand\u2019s debut in Africa.<\/p>\n

The cutting-edge Quay 7 hotel development will be called \u2018The Cape Town EDITION\u2019 and will also feature private residences. It is being touted as a \u2018seven-star\u2019 hotel.<\/p>\n

The Cape Town EDITION hotel is expected to feature 142 rooms and suites and world-class dining experiences, including a signature rooftop bar, along with a spa, pool and meeting and event facilities.<\/p>\n

Shanghai-based architectural firm Neri & Hu was appointed to design The Cape Town EDITION hotel, in collaboration with local architect and design firm StudioMAS.<\/p>\n
