The Los Angeles<\/a> district attorney will be charging Nick Reiner with two counts of first-degree murder, after he was arrested on suspicion of murdering his parents, the director and actor Rob Reiner and his wife, Michele Singer Reiner.<\/p>\n Nathan Hochman, the district attorney of Los Angeles, said the charges could carry the death penalty, and said that the counts against Nick Reiner include a special circumstance of multiple murders.<\/p>\n Detectives from the Los Angeles police department\u2019s (LAPD) homicide division took Nick, 32, into custody on Sunday night, hours after his parents were found dead in their Brentwood home, the department announced<\/a> on Monday.<\/p>\n The police said that on 14 December, around 3.40pm local time, LAPD officers responded to a call of a death investigation in the 200 block of South Chadbourne Avenue.<\/p>\n They said that once inside the residence, officers discovered two victims, who were later identified as Rob and Michele.<\/p>\n Authorities said that as a result of the initial investigation, it was determined that the Reiners were the victims of homicide and they said that the investigation \u201cfurther revealed\u201d that their son, Nick, \u201cwas responsible for their deaths\u201d. Authorities did not provide any additional details.<\/p>\n Nick was located and arrested at around 9.15pm local time, police said, and was booked for murder. He was being held without bail.<\/p>\n The police said<\/a> the case would be presented to the Los Angeles county attorney\u2019s office on Tuesday for filing consideration.<\/p>\n Alan Jackson, Nick Reiner\u2019s defense attorney, told reporters that his client had not received medical clearance to appear in court and would not do so before Wednesday.<\/p>\n It will be up to the DA\u2019s office to charge Reiner with specific counts, according to CNN<\/a>.<\/p>\n The Los Angeles district attorney\u2019s office has until Wednesday to formally file the charges.<\/p>\n On Monday, the Los Angeles<\/a> police chief, Jim McDonnell, confirmed that Nick had been \u201cbooked for murder\u201d in connection with his parents\u2019 killings and called the deaths \u201cvery tragic<\/a>\u201d.<\/p>\n
