{"id":4158,"date":"2025-12-16T14:17:53","date_gmt":"2025-12-16T14:17:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/microvibenews.com\/?p=4158"},"modified":"2025-12-16T14:17:53","modified_gmt":"2025-12-16T14:17:53","slug":"u-s-military-willing-to-attack-designated-terrorist-organizations-within-america-general-says","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/microvibenews.com\/?p=4158","title":{"rendered":"U.S. Military Willing to Attack \u201cDesignated Terrorist Organizations\u201d Within America, General Says"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<p><span class=\"has-underline\">The commander of<\/span> the arm of the U.S. military responsible for President Donald Trump\u2019s illegal military <a href=\"https:\/\/theintercept.com\/2025\/11\/11\/cost-trump-national-guard-military-occupation\/\">occupations<\/a> of American cities said he is willing to conduct attacks on so-called designated terrorist organizations within the U.S. This startling admission comes after months of extrajudicial killings of alleged members or affiliates of DTOs in the waters near Venezuela, which <a href=\"https:\/\/theintercept.com\/2025\/10\/02\/venezuela-boat-strike-justification\/\">experts<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/theintercept.com\/2025\/10\/31\/trump-venezuela-boat-strikes-unprivileged-belligerants\/\">lawmakers<\/a> say are outright <a href=\"https:\/\/theintercept.com\/2025\/12\/12\/venezuela-boat-strikes-video-press-coverage\/\">murders<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Gen. Gregory Guillot of U.S. Northern Command, a four-star general who takes his orders from War Secretary Pete Hegseth, made clear his position in testimony before the Senate Armed Services Committee last week. When asked about his willingness to attack DTOs within U.S. borders by Sen. Jack Reed, D-R.I., <a href=\"https:\/\/www.c-span.org\/program\/senate-committee\/senate-hearing-on-president-trumps-national-guard-deployment-across-us\/670106\">he replied<\/a>: \u201cIf I had questions, I would elevate that to the chairman and the secretary. \u2026 And if I had no concerns and I was confident in the lawful order, I would definitely execute that order.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Guillot\u2019s openness about the potential for unprecedented military action within U.S. borders comes as the White House, Pentagon, and Justice Department continue to refuse to rule out summary executions of Americans on Trump\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/theintercept.com\/2025\/11\/04\/trump-terrorist-list-nspm7-enemies\/\">secret enemies list<\/a>, after weeks of <a href=\"https:\/\/theintercept.com\/2025\/12\/12\/trump-nspm-7-domestic-terrorist-executions-antifa-boat-strikes\/\">requests for clarifications<\/a> from The Intercept.<\/p>\n<p>The military has carried out 25 known attacks in the Caribbean Sea and eastern Pacific Ocean <a href=\"https:\/\/theintercept.com\/2025\/11\/17\/trump-boat-strikes-death-toll-caribbean-pacific\/\">since September<\/a>, killing at least 95 civilians whom it claims are narco-terrorists affiliated with DTOs. The most recent strikes, three on Monday in the Pacific Ocean against \u201cvessels operated by Designated Terrorist Organizations,\u201d killed a total of eight people, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/Southcom\/status\/2000756230252314901\">U.S. Southern Command<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The questionable legal justification for these attacks makes Guillot\u2019s response all the more concerning, said Elizabeth Goitein, senior director of the Brennan Center\u2019s liberty and national security program.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe problem with General Guillot\u2019s answer is that it elides the concerns that have already been raised about the lawfulness of conducting military attacks against drug trafficking operations,\u201d Goitein told The Intercept.<\/p>\n<p><!-- BLOCK(cta)[0](%7B%22componentName%22%3A%22CTA%22%2C%22entityType%22%3A%22SHORTCODE%22%2C%22optional%22%3Atrue%7D)(%7B%7D) --><\/p>\n<p><!-- END-BLOCK(cta)[0] --><\/p>\n<p>When The Intercept asked if Guillot would be willing to refuse orders if, after elevating his concerns to the chair and the secretary, he was still not confident in the legality of the orders, Teresa C. Meadows, the U.S. Northern Command Media and Plans chief, replied: \u201cNORTHCOM does not designate terrorist organizations.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat is one of the concerns with the administration asserting that the President essentially has a license to kill outside the law based on his own say so,\u201d said Brian Finucane, a former State Department lawyer who is a specialist in counterterrorism issues and the laws of war. \u201cThat prerogative might be wielded elsewhere \u2014 including inside the United States.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAfter the military has conducted 95 summary executions of civilians in the Caribbean at the direction of Trump and Hegseth, it is not sufficient anymore for commanders to say to lawmakers that they will run any legal concerns up the chain \u2014 at the top of which are those who would be giving the order,\u201d said Sarah Harrison, who previously served as associate general counsel at the Pentagon\u2019s Office of General Counsel, International Affairs. \u201cRather, to make clear they will uphold the rule of law, they should be definitive in saying that they will disobey patently unlawful orders, which include the scenario Senator Reed laid out for Gen. The White House did not respond to a request for clarification if such attacks would occur in the United States.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-pullquote has-text-align-right\">\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cI do not have any indications of an enemy within.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<\/figure>\n<p>Guillot attended an <a href=\"https:\/\/theintercept.com\/2025\/09\/30\/trump-hegseth-generals-admirals-military-meeting\/\">address<\/a> in September by Trump and Hegseth at which the president told the NORTHCOM chief and hundreds of other generals and admirals that the United States was involved in a \u201cwar from within\u201d and that a \u201cmajor part\u201d in it would be played by \u201csome of the people in this room.\u201d Guillot pleaded ignorance when questioned about who he might be ordered to attack. \u201cI do not have any indications of an enemy within,\u201d he said last week.<\/p>\n<p>NORTHCOM, which provides command and control of \u201chomeland defense\u201d and manages military activity in North America, has overseen troop deployments in Chicago, Los Angeles, and <a href=\"https:\/\/theintercept.com\/2025\/09\/29\/trump-portland-troops-antifa\/\">Portland<\/a>, Oregon, that federal judges have ruled were illegal because Trump administration claims of rampant civil unrest <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2025\/10\/10\/us\/federal-courts-national-guard-trump.html\">were found<\/a> to be <a href=\"https:\/\/www.opb.org\/pdf\/FINDINGS%20OF%20FACT%20AND%20CONCLUSIONS%20OF%20LAW_1762564569662.pdf\">overblown or fictional<\/a>. Trump has even falsely claimed, for example, that members of the Venezuelan gang Tren de Aragua have engaged in <a href=\"https:\/\/theintercept.com\/2025\/10\/15\/trump-lie-national-guard-dc-tren-de-aragua\/\">hand-to-hand combat<\/a> with U.S. troops on the streets of D.C. The White House has, for weeks, failed to address this falsehood.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe founders designed our government to be a system of checks and balances. Defendants, however, make clear that the only check they want is a blank one,\u201d U.S. District Judge Charles Breyer <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2025\/12\/10\/us\/judge-blocks-la-national-guard-deployment?cid=ios_app\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">wrote<\/a> in a 35-page opinion last week, ordering Trump to end the Los Angeles troop deployment. \u201cIt defies the record \u2014 and common sense \u2014 to conclude that risks stemming from protests \u2014 in August, October, or even present day \u2014 could not have been sufficiently managed without resorting to the National Guard.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWithin the context of the Federal Protection Mission, forces under the command and control of NORTHCOM protect federal property and federal personnel as they enforce federal law,\u201d said Meadows, despite the statement having little to do with questions posed by The Intercept.<\/p>\n<p>The Pentagon refused to say if DTOs are operating in America, directing The Intercept to the White House and Justice Department.<\/p>\n<p>The Justice Department pointed The Intercept to <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/cspan\/status\/2000620844054086074\">comments<\/a> made on Monday by Bill Essayli, who <a href=\"https:\/\/theintercept.com\/2025\/06\/24\/trump-bill-essayli-la-protests-ice\/\">leads the U.S. attorney\u2019s office in Los Angeles<\/a>, as he announced the weekend arrests of members of what he called \u201ca far-left, anti-government, domestic terror cell,\u201d known as the Turtle Island Liberation Front, for allegedly planning a series of bomb attacks across Southern California on New Year\u2019s Eve.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis investigation was initiated in part due to the September 2025 executive order signed by President Trump to root out left-wing domestic terror organizations in our country, such as Antifa and other radical groups,\u201d he explained, referencing <a href=\"https:\/\/theintercept.com\/2025\/11\/04\/trump-terrorist-list-nspm7-enemies\/\">National Security Presidential Memorandum 7<\/a>, or NSPM-7, under which Trump instructed his administration to target U.S. progressive groups and their donors as well as political activists who profess undefined anti-American, anti-fascist, or anti-Christian sentiments.<\/p>\n<p><!-- BLOCK(newsletter)[0](%7B%22componentName%22%3A%22NEWSLETTER%22%2C%22entityType%22%3A%22SHORTCODE%22%2C%22optional%22%3Atrue%7D)(%7B%7D) --><\/p>\n<div class=\"newsletter-embed flex-col items-center print:hidden\" id=\"third-party--article-mid\" data-module=\"InlineNewsletter\" data-module-source=\"web_intercept_20241230_Inline_Signup_Replacement\">\n<div class=\"-mx-5 sm:-mx-10 p-5 sm:px-10 xl:-ml-5 lg:mr-0 xl:px-5 bg-accentLight hidden\" data-name=\"subscribed\">\n<h2 class=\"font-sans font-light uppercase text-[30px] leading-8 text-white tracking-[0.01em] mb-0\">\n      We\u2019re independent of corporate interests \u2014 and powered by members.
