Caltech Lifts has hired a general manager to help lead the company\u2019s growth plan after opening its first permanent base beyond its Dundee head office.<\/p>\n
Willow House at Strathclyde Business Park, Bellshill, is part of a \u00a3250,000 a year investment in the business which is targeting \u00a36 million in revenue.<\/p>\n
Craig McLachlan\u00a0joins the company after six years as senior operations manager for ADT UK & Ireland. He brings 30 years\u2019 experience in the lift industry to the role, from stairlift engineer to regional service manager<\/p>\n
Mr McLachlan will split his time between Dundee and the Central Belt office and is taking charge of day-to-day operations, including improving systems and processes.<\/p>\n
Two lift maintenance engineers and one other member of staff are now based at the Bellshill office, with the Glasgow-based sales manager and other staff and managers working from the office as required. There are plans to add stairlift engineers to the Central Belt team in due course.<\/p>\n
Established in 1978,\u00a0Caltech Lifts supplies a range of lifts to the public and private sectors, and maintains more than 1,500 across the UK.<\/p>\n
The firm was founded by Howard Renwick and run since 2013 by his sons Andrew (managing director) and Fraser (sales director), who have grown its annual turnover to \u00a34.5m and headcount to 37.<\/p>\n
Commenting on the investment, Andrew Renwick said: \u201cThis marks a major expansion for Caltech Lifts \u2013 strengthening our presence across Scotland and bringing more of our engineers closer to customers in the biggest city in Scotland.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019ve taken on more work in the Central Belt over the years and with multinational rivals acquiring two independent lift companies in the region we felt it was a great opportunity to get fully set up there so we can reach customers in Edinburgh quicker, too.\u201d<\/p>\n
