South of Scotland Enterprise has appointed three new board members, Julia Mulloy, Stuart McCallum and Andrew Smith, who will take up their roles on 31 August\u00a0for four years.<\/p>\n
Julia Mulloy <\/strong>brings 40 years of experience across housing, regeneration, community development and organisational transformation.<\/p>\n She was chief executive of Scottish Borders Housing Association until her retirement in May this year and has also played a significant role in regional strategy through her membership of the South of Scotland Regional Economic Partnership.<\/p>\n Ms Mulloy has held non-executive roles with SFHA, Loreburn, Wishaw, Charing Cross and currently, the Wise Group.<\/p>\n Stuart McCallum<\/strong> has spent more tyhan 30 years in professional services, banking and board governance, most recently as a consulting partner at RSM UK, where he was national head of food & drink, head of manufacturing Scotland and head of private business Scotland.<\/p>\n Much of that work has been with family-owned businesses across agriculture, food & drink, manufacturing and the hospitality sector, advising on succession, growth and financial resilience in the kind of companies that make up the South\u2019s economy.<\/p>\n He is currently a non-executive director and chair of the finance, audit and risk committee at Scotland Food & Drink. He is also an external member of the Scottish Funding Council\u2019s finance committee, external trustee and chair of the finance and investment committee at the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow, and is an elected member of ICAS Council.<\/p>\n Andrew Smith<\/strong> is an investment and commercialisation specialist with more than 40 years\u2019 experience spanning law, renewable energy, clean technology and innovation finance.<\/p>\n He is recognised internationally for his expertise in supporting early-stage companies, developing investment ecosystems and accelerating the commercialisation of emerging technologies.<\/p>\n Mr Smith is director of Greenbackers Investment Capital, an advisory business focused on energy resilience, where he works with technology companies, investors and corporates across Europe and North America to support fundraising, market entry and commercial growth. He is also founder and managing director of Deja Blue Consulting, advising on investment strategy, commercialisation and project finance.<\/p>\n Previously, he served as chief investment officer at DP Energy and as head of the Renewable Energy Investment Fund at Scottish Investment Bank, where he led the investment of a \u00a3103 million fund supporting renewable energy and low-carbon infrastructure projects.<\/p>\n Having practised as a Scottish solicitor for 34 years, he is a board director of the UK Marine Energy Council, a member of the UN Sustainable Blue Economy Finance Initiative Working Group and an independent expert with the Solar Impulse Foundation.<\/p>\n Daily Business Bulletin<\/strong>:\u00a0Subscribe here for our morning bulletin of breaking news<\/em><\/p>\n \t <\/div>\n
