Edinburgh\u2019s Gyle Shopping Centre is enjoying a rise in footfall as new tenants are signed up and the number of empty units declines.<\/p>\n
Recent incomers are Danish retailer S\u00f8strene Grene, which has taken the former Gap unit,\u00a0beauty brand Rituals, jeweller Nomination, and Black Sheep Coffee\u00a0which is taking a long-empty unit opposite Morrisons, <\/p>\n
The latest occupiers join existing brands that have moved to the Gyle in the past year including The Entertainer, Grapetree and Lovisa.\u00a0Boots, Starbucks and Pandora are among brands to have renewed their leases.<\/p>\n
Footfall at the centre has increased consistently year on year. Last year saw a 4% rise on 2024, and so far 2026 footfall is up a further 3.8%.<\/p>\n
Sophie Shannon, director at NewRiver, said the letters further strengthen the centre\u2019s offer and build on the leasing momentum delivered as part of its business plan.<\/p>\n
\u201cWith new brands joining an already strong line-up, increasing footfall and continued commitment from existing occupiers, the Gyle is very much reinforcing its position as one of Edinburgh\u2019s leading retail destinations,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
NewRiver REIT is a specialist listed\u00a0real estate investment trust, focused primarily on retail and leisure property. The company owns 33 shopping centres, 25 retail warehouses, 14 high street units and over 700 pubs. The company is listed on the\u00a0London Stock Exchange.<\/p>\n
It was established by Allan Lockhart and the late David Lockhart as a property company under the name\u00a0NewRiver Retail\u00a0in September 2008.<\/p>\n
At the end of 2024 it took ownership of the Gyle as part of the \u00a3147m acquisition of Jersey-based Capital & Regional\u00a0which had acquired it just a year earlier. <\/p>\n
