Bands come together for Tattoo and arts festival opens in Fife. JULENA DRUMI rounds up coming events<\/h4>\n

The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo brings iconic Scottish bands Skerryvore, Skipinnish and Tide Lines together for a new song created for the 2026 Show,\u00a0A Call To Gather<\/em>.<\/p>\n In a fitting celebration of contemporary Scottish music, the three bands collaborate on a bespoke track, combing some of their most popular songs \u2013 featuring Skerryvore\u2019s\u00a0Live Forever,<\/em>\u00a0followed by Skipinnish\u2019s\u00a0Alive<\/em>\u00a0and then Tide Lines\u2019\u00a0Heroes<\/em>.<\/p>\n Everything Worth Fighting For\u00a0<\/em>has been arranged by the Tattoo\u2019s resident composer, Tom Hodge, and will be performed by Tattoo Orchestra lead by Nick Grace, uplifting and inspiring audiences on the castle esplanade this summer.<\/p>\n Lead vocalists from the bands gathered at Glasgow\u2019s Assumption Studios to record the vocals for the track, lending their talents to a truly unique element of this year\u2019s show.<\/p>\n Alan Lane, creative director at The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo, said: \u201cThe Contemporary Scottish Traditional Music scene is the most exciting cultural movement in Scotland at the moment. <\/p>\n \u201cAnd these bands are at the forefront of that movement. We\u2019ve worked with these artists before and some of the highlights of recent tattoos have been our collaborations. It\u2019s a key part of the company\u2019s creative direction and long may these friendships continue.\u201d<\/p>\n Alec Dalglish, Skerryvore, said: \u201cIt\u2019s amazing to be a part of this collaboration. Lots of the bands are also our friends, so that means a lot to us. It\u2019s good to be involved in a project with them, as we don\u2019t get to see each other all that much, so it was cool getting to be in the studio.\u201d<\/p>\n Skipinnish\u2019s Angus MacPhail was impressed by the \u201cfantastic\u201d community choir, Sing in the City, in the show last year. Robert Robertson of Tide Lines, said:\u00a0\u201cIt genuinely is a pinch-me moment to look out and see the Massed Bands playing something that was written in my bedroom in my flat in Glasgow.\u201d<\/p>\n Tattoo: 7-29 August, Edinburgh Castle Arena<\/em><\/p>\n The Pittenweem Arts Festival<\/strong><\/p>\n This year\u2019s Fife arts event includes work by puppet maker and sculptor Ella Mackay and storyteller, illustrator and printmaker Morvern Graham.<\/p>\n The Festival will also present a group exhibition featuring the Henderson-Inglis Bursary finalists, celebrating the quality of this year\u2019s submissions and introducing some of Scotland\u2019s most exciting emerging artistic voices.<\/p>\n Pittenween Arts Festival 1-8 August<\/em><\/p>\nLike this:<\/h3>\n
