Former offices in Edinburgh\u2019s Haymarket area, which have been converted to a 157-bedroom hotel, will open early next month.<\/p>\n
Property developer S Harrison, which owns the completed building, has a long-term agreement with European hotel group Meininger Hotels, to operate the hotel.<\/p>\n
Edinburgh becomes the 38th hotel in a Europe-wide group and the former Osborne House, a 1970s building in West Coates, will welcome its first guests on 5 August.<\/p>\n

Ogilvie Construction was the project\u2019s principal contractor. The work involved demolishing part of a 1970s office building formerly known as Osborne House, before building two further accommodation wings and adding an additional top storey. The scheme was designed by Edinburgh-based Comprehensive Design Architects.<\/p>\n The hotel continues S Harrison\u2019s investment in Edinburgh, following the delivery of the landmark Malmaison boutique hotel in the city\u2019s New Town, which opened in 2019 after the conversion of the Grade A-listed Buchan House.<\/p>\n S Harrison has also delivered numerous purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) schemes across the city. This includes a recently completed development just off Newington Road and the company will complete work on another scheme within the historic surroundings of Canongate\u00a0later this year.<\/p>\n In addition, the company has secured planning permission for a landmark PBSA scheme on Gillespie Crescent. The approved scheme will transform a vacant brownfield site within the Marchmont, Meadows and Bruntsfield Conservation Area into a 124-bedroom development in a contemporary five-storey building.<\/p>\n Planning has been approved for a \u00a3100 million mixed-use development in a prime waterfront location in Leith.
