It took five years to repair Notre Dame following the devastating fire in 2019.<\/p>\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">Ms Meagher said: \u201cThis has been a complex and difficult project but I hope you\u2019ll agree it has been worth it. The new fa\u00e7ade is truly spectacular and it\u2019s fantastic to see it restored to its former glory.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">Built in the 1890s, the bridge had not undergone a thorough refurbishment since the 1930s. A key part of the current \u00a386m project has been blasting off layers of thick bituminous paint applied at that time and was disguising a lot of the underlying issues, such as corroded and missing steel.
