Pulsant, the\u00a0UK data centre group, has completed a \u00a3500,000 upgrade of its three Edinburgh sites, including Scotland\u2019s most connected facility at South Gyle.<\/p>\n
The Edinburgh investment is part of a \u00a32m programme across the company\u2019s UK sites to make them more client and employee friendly.<\/p>\n
Pulsant worked closely with clients to better understand how its data centres are used in practice. <\/p>\n
They highlighted a need for more welcoming, efficient and collaborative spaces to help IT teams and technicians work more productively when on site.<\/p>\n
Ben Cranham, chief operating officer, said: \u201cData centres are often designed primarily around the infrastructure, rather than the people who work in them every day, and our goal has been to create spaces where everyone \u2013 clients, partners, visitors and our team \u2013 feels welcome, supported and happy to be there.\u201d<\/p>\n
About 240 businesses use Pulsant\u2019s digital infrastructure platform in Scotland for services including colocation, housing their own servers and IT infrastructure in its secure, interconnected facilities.<\/p>\n
Mr Cranham said \u201cFrom early origins in Edinburgh, Pulsant has grown into a UK-wide platform, but we retain a deep connection with the capital and its business community. Our presence is significant, with three sites and around a third of Pulsant people based in the city.\u201d<\/p>\n
The flagship South Gyle site offers access to more than 30 national and international carriers, including Scotland\u2019s\u00a0LINX internet exchange\u00a0and global network\u00a0Megaport.<\/p>\n
Further upgrades are in progress at Pulsant\u2019s recently acquired Birmingham and Fareham sites, reflecting its ongoing focus on service improvement.<\/p>\n
