{"id":30981,"date":"2026-06-01T08:28:31","date_gmt":"2026-06-01T08:28:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/microvibenews.com\/?p=30981"},"modified":"2026-06-01T08:28:31","modified_gmt":"2026-06-01T08:28:31","slug":"french-investors-get-a-taste-for-scottish-property-daily-business","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/microvibenews.com\/?p=30981","title":{"rendered":"French investors get a taste for Scottish property \u2013 Daily Business"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/dailybusinessgroup.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/St-James-open-1.png\" alt=\"St James Quarter\" class=\"wp-image-171745 lazyload\"\/><img loading=\"lazy\" fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"794\" height=\"526\" src=\"https:\/\/dailybusinessgroup.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/St-James-open-1.png\" alt=\"St James Quarter\" class=\"wp-image-171745 lazyload\" srcset=\"https:\/\/dailybusinessgroup.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/St-James-open-1.png 794w, https:\/\/dailybusinessgroup.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/St-James-open-1-300x199.png 300w, https:\/\/dailybusinessgroup.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/St-James-open-1-768x509.png 768w, https:\/\/dailybusinessgroup.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/St-James-open-1-600x397.png 600w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 794px) 100vw, 794px\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\"><em>The St James Quarter was acquired by a French investor (pic: DB Media Services)<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">Investors from France have developed an appetite for Scottish commercial property which they regard as \u201cgood value\u201d.<\/p>\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">In the past six months French buyers have spent \u00a3183 million on Scottish office buildings, retail outlets, industrial units, and other commercial property assets.<\/p>\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">Among the assets acquired are Edinburgh\u2019s St James Quarter; the Morgan Stanley offices in Waterloo Street, Glasgow; BT\u2019s base in Greenmarket, Dundee; and the Clydeside headquarters of STV.<\/p>\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">Since 2024 the overall figure has surged past \u00a3450m, making French funds one of the most active international buyers in the Scottish market.<\/p>\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">Property consultancy Knight Frank, which compiled the data, said a big contributor to the trend was the attractive yields on offer in Scotland \u2013 particularly in Aberdeen and the shire, accounting for more than 15 of the properties,\u00a0amounting to a total value of around \u00a3100m.<\/p>\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">More recent transactions include Episcap\u2019s purchase of the Travelodge at 84 Academy Street in Inverness, Norma\u2019s acquisition of 101-105 Sauchiehall Street in Glasgow, and Alderan securing 24-28 Frederick Street in Edinburgh, all of which concluded between February and March.<\/p>\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">About half of the total investment is accounted for by Soci\u00e9t\u00e9 Civile de Placement Immobiliers (SCPIs), which are French open-ended property investment funds.
