If Iran doesn\u2019t agree to the US\u2019s terms, the military may destroy \u201cevery bridge in Iran by 12 o\u2019clock tomorrow night\u201d and put every power plant \u201cout of business,\u201d Trump warned Monday.<\/p>\n<p>In other corners of the market, gold swung between gains and losses to trade around $4 650 an ounce. Treasury 10-year yields gained one basis point to 4.34%. Bitcoin fell more than 1.5% to trade around $68 700.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m quite sure the markets are not fully pricing the worst-case scenario,\u201d Singapore\u2019s Foreign Affairs Minister Vivian Balakrishnan told Bloomberg Television\u2019s Avril Hong. Singapore\u2019s top diplomat warned the economic fallout from the war in Iran could worsen.<\/p>\n<p>The US president\u2019s self-imposed deadline marks the latest pivotal moment in the war, which has killed thousands of people and triggered the largest-ever disruption to the global oil market. The president has struggled to find an off-ramp to the conflict \u2014 increasingly unpopular with Americans who are seeing average gasoline prices above $4 a gallon.<\/p>\n<p>Iran reportedly passed a rejection of a ceasefire proposal to mediator Pakistan. It demanded a permanent end to the war, lifting of sanctions, and reconstruction efforts, in addition to protocol for safe passage through Hormuz, according to the state-run Islamic Republic News Agency.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is a market being driven by headlines,\u201d said Josh Gilbert, a market analyst at eToro. \u201cWe saw it on Monday, when reports of a potential 45-day ceasefire framework sent equities higher and oil lower, only for Trump\u2019s rhetoric about destroying Iranian infrastructure to pull the mood back in the opposite direction.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Asian and US equities had risen on Monday amid hopes for a ceasefire.
