Earlier this month, it looked like all but two of Elon Musk\u2019s 11 co-founders at his AI startup xAI had departed the company<\/a>. Now, according to Business Insider, the remaining two co-founders, Manuel Kroiss and Ross Nordeen, have left as well.<\/p>\n BI said on Wednesday that Kroiss had told people that he\u2019s leaving xAI<\/a>, then reported that Nordeen left the company on Friday<\/a>.<\/p>\n Musk recently claimed xAI \u201cwas not built right [the] first time around,\u201d so it\u2019s now \u201cbeing rebuilt from the foundations up.\u201d The company was recently acquired by Musk\u2019s SpaceX<\/a>, bringing SpaceX, xAI, and X (formerly Twitter<\/a>) together under one corporate umbrella, all as SpaceX is reportedly planning to go public<\/a>.<\/p>\n Kroiss and Nordeen both reported directly to Musk, according to BI, with Kroiss leading the company\u2019s pretraining team, while Nordeen was Musk\u2019s \u201cright-hand operator.\u201d Nordeen reportedly came to xAI from Tesla, and was involved in planning major layoffs at Twitter after Musk acquired the company in 2022.<\/p>\n TechCrunch has reached out to xAI for comment.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
