Google announced<\/a> on Thursday that \u201cLive Translate<\/a>,\u201d its AI-powered Google Translate feature that\u00a0lets you hear real-time translations in your headphones, is expanding to iOS and to more countries.<\/p>\n With this expansion, the feature is now available on iOS and Android in the U.S., India, Mexico, Germany, Spain, France, Nigeria, Italy, the United Kingdom, Japan, Bangladesh, and Thailand. Previously, it was only available on Android in the U.S., India, and Mexico.<\/p>\n The capability essentially turns any pair of headphones into a real-time, one-way translation device. The real-time headphone translations experience, which leverages Google\u2019s Gemini AI,<\/a> keeps each speaker\u2019s tone, emphasis, and cadence intact. This makes it easier to follow the conversation and tell who\u2019s saying what, Google says.<\/p>\n The tech giant suggests that people can use the feature to do things like follow dinnertime conversations with relatives who speak another language, or understand train announcements while traveling in a different country.<\/p>\n The feature works with any pair of headphones and supports more than 70 languages.<\/p>\n Users can access it by opening up the Google Translate app, tapping the \u201cLive Translate\u201d option, and then connecting their headphones.<\/p>\n The Live Translate expansion comes the same day that Google announced that it\u2019s expanding its AI-powered conversational search feature, Search Live<\/a>, globally to all languages and locations where AI Mode is available.
