Two further cuts to interest rates are expected, the first next week and a second early next year, taking the base rate to 3.5%.<\/p>\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Meanwhile, retail data from the trade points to a disappointing November, despite the Black Friday sales, though some retailers enjoyed a solid month.<\/p>\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Total sales in Scotland increased by 0.1% compared with November 2024, but adjusted for inflation, there was a year-on-year decrease of 0.5%.<\/p>\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Ewan MacDonald-Russell, deputy head of the Scottish Retail Consortium, said: \u201cScottish retail hopes of a strong end to 2025 are hanging by a thread after disappointing November retail sales.<\/p>\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">\u201cRetailers are now on tenterhooks\u00a0for a last-minute surge in Christmas sales to round off what will otherwise be a humdrum year.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Linda Ellett, UK head of consumer, retail &amp; leisure, KPMG, said: \u201cScotland\u2019s retailers will be disappointed that Black Friday period promotions failed to deliver the boost that they were hoping for, with\u00a0household costs and nervousness about the economy continuing to impact discretionary buying.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Contrary to  the official data, Scotland\u2019s largest outlet shopping destination recorded its best ever November performance.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/dailybusinessgroup.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/Livingston-Designer-Outlet.png\" alt=\"Livingston Designer Outlet\" class=\"wp-image-180438 lazyload\"\/><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"794\" height=\"520\" src=\"https:\/\/dailybusinessgroup.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/Livingston-Designer-Outlet.png\" alt=\"Livingston Designer Outlet\" class=\"wp-image-180438 lazyload\" srcset=\"https:\/\/dailybusinessgroup.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/Livingston-Designer-Outlet.png 794w, https:\/\/dailybusinessgroup.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/Livingston-Designer-Outlet-300x196.png 300w, https:\/\/dailybusinessgroup.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/Livingston-Designer-Outlet-768x503.png 768w, https:\/\/dailybusinessgroup.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/Livingston-Designer-Outlet-600x393.png 600w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 794px) 100vw, 794px\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\"><em>Livingston Designer Outlet defied the Black Friday gloom<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Sales at Livingston Designer Outlet grew by 7.5% year on year, supported by a 4% increase in footfall.<\/p>\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">It says performance was boosted during the Black Friday trading period, where sales were up 13.3% year on year and like-for-like sales grew by 11.5%.<\/p>\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">The centre added a number of brands since last year such as Belstaff, Columbia, Monsoon and Ravensburger which may have influenced the data.<\/p>\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">LDC says these brands elevate the centre\u2019s profile, driving footfall and creating a dynamic shopping destination.
