Nintendo filed a lawsuit<\/a> against the U.S. government on Friday over its extraction of tariffs from global businesses. The gaming giant is seeking a refund for any duties it paid due to President Donald Trump\u2019s executive orders that invoke the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA).<\/p>\n This lawsuit, filed in the U.S. Court of International Trade, comes after a Supreme Court decision struck down the tariffs that the president imposed under IEEPA, arguing that he exceeded his authority. More than a thousand<\/a> other companies have already sued for refunds on the tariffs that they pay; according to Nintendo\u2019s complaint, viewed by TechCrunch, these tariffs have resulted in the collection of over $200 billion on imports in total.<\/p>\n \u201cWe can confirm that we have filed a request,\u201d Nintendo told TechCrunch in a statement. \u201cWe have nothing else to share on the topic.\u201d<\/p>\n In response to the Supreme Court\u2019s decision \u2014 which he called \u201cextraordinarily anti-American<\/a>\u201d \u2014 President Trump raised tariffs<\/a> from 10% to 15%.
