More than 40 jobs have been lost after Aberdeen-based King Foods, a supplier of fresh fish products, dry goods and meat to hotel and retail catering outlets ceased trading.<\/p>\n
The company, founded in 1994 and led by John King and his two sons, had experienced adverse trading for a number of years due to increased competition and cost price inflation.<\/p>\n
This has been exacerbated by the wider challenges faced by hospitality and catering companies across the country.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Losses and cash flow pressure forced the directors of Foodstore, trading as King Foods, to call in administrators.<\/p>\n
Geoff Jacobs and Alistair McAlinden from Interpath have made the company\u2019s 41 staff redundant.<\/p>\n
Mr Jacobs said: \u201cSignificant headwinds continue to impact companies operating up and down the food and drink supply chain, including rising costs which place pressure on margins.\u00a0 <\/p>\n
\u201cThis is resulting in many business owners seeking support and assessing options which we would encourage them to do proactively.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe will now commence the process of marketing the company\u2019s business and assets, including its fitted cold storage facility in Aberdeen, its vehicle fleet and other properties.\u201d<\/p>\n
Mr McAlinden added: \u201cAs a priority, we will be extending support to King Foods\u2019 employees who have sadly been impacted by redundancy.\u201d<\/p>\n
