Hackers have reportedly broken into the networks of the FBI.<\/p>\n
On Thursday, citing an anonymous source, CNN reported<\/a> that the breach affected a system used to manage wiretaps and foreign intelligence surveillance warrants.\u00a0<\/p>\n \u201cThe FBI identified and addressed suspicious activities on FBI networks, and we have leveraged all technical capabilities to respond,\u201d a bureau spokesperson told TechCrunch, declining to provide more details.<\/p>\n This is the latest major breach of U.S. government agencies and American companies in recent times. Last year, Chinese hackers broke into the U.S. Treasury<\/a> and the National Nuclear Security Administration<\/a>, which oversees the security of the U.S. nuclear stockpile. All the while, Russian hackers stole sealed records from the U.S. Courts\u2019 filing system<\/a>. Also, Elon Musk\u2019s DOGE took control<\/a> of Americans\u2019 personal data, defying longstanding security practices<\/a> and violating federal protocols<\/a>, despite a Senator warning<\/a> that Musk poses national security risks.\u00a0<\/p>\n Meanwhile, the Chinese government hacking group Salt Typhoon<\/a> has broken into at least 200 U.S. companies, according to the FBI<\/a>. Some of the companies confirmed to have been hacked include telecommunications providers AT&T and Verizon<\/a>, as well as Lumen<\/a>, Charter Communications and Windstream<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
