The company later said all four of its terminals were operational.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The logistics disruptions come as a major blow to the region, where business hubs such as Dubai rely on trade, tourism, transport and finance along with a reputation as a haven in a troubled neighbourhood. Protracted snarls could reverberate across global supply chains, analysts warn.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>Jebel Ali adjoins one of the world\u2019s largest industrial parks that is a key crossroads for goods shipped from Asia to Africa, Europe and the US East Coast.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Major American and European\u00a0companies\u00a0have distribution, packaging and warehousing centres in the Jebel Ali Free Zone, which sprawls over nearly twice the square miles as Chicago\u2019s O\u2019Hare International Airport.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Dubai is also a vital centre for international air cargo. an aerial interception, Dubai\u2019s Media Office said on X.\u00a0Civil Defence teams were attempting to put out the blaze, according to the post early on Sunday.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u2018War risk surcharge\u2019<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The outbreak of fighting threatens to cause congestion at ports where cargo will have to be rerouted, adding strains that will underpin spot container rates, which are already rising for services needed in the conflict zone.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Hapag-Lloyd on Sunday\u00a0announced a \u201cwar risk surcharge\u201d of $1 500 per 20-foot container for deliveries in the region, effective Monday.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>Cargo owners \u201cshould prepare for a ripple effect with rising spot rates on other major deep-sea trades as well,\u201d Vespucci Maritime CEO Lars Jensen\u00a0wrote\u00a0in a\u00a0LinkedIn post.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Cosco Shipping Holdings Co, the biggest Chinese carrier, said vessels that have already entered the Persian Gulf and completed operations \u201chave been instructed to proceed to safe waters to hover or anchor\u201d.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Cosco said it is evaluating its options, \u201cincluding potential alternative discharge ports\u201d.<\/p>\n<div class=\"visible-sm-block visible-xs-block m1010\">\n<div services away from the Suez Canal and sending vessels around the southern tip of Africa, after Houthi militants threatened to restart attacks on cargo ships in the Red Sea with ties to the US and partner in a vessel-sharing alliance, announced a similar rerouting.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>France\u2019s CMA CGM SA, which ranks third, told vessels in the Persian Gulf to take shelter immediately and suspended passage through Suez.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It\u00a0imposed\u00a0an \u201cemergency conflict surcharge\u201d of $2 000 per 20-foot container for bookings in the region.<\/p>\n<p><strong>This was to be the year carriers \u2018returned fully\u2019 to Suez shortcut<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Those moves came after Maersk and other carriers, before the latest outbreak of violence, indicated that 2026 would be the year they returned fully to the Suez shortcut between Asia and Europe after mostly avoiding that route since Houthi
