{"id":26037,"date":"2026-03-01T01:02:12","date_gmt":"2026-03-01T01:02:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/microvibenews.com\/?p=26037"},"modified":"2026-03-01T01:02:12","modified_gmt":"2026-03-01T01:02:12","slug":"pentagon-blocks-officers-from-ivy-league-and-other-top-schools-including-partners-on-ai-and-space","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/microvibenews.com\/?p=26037","title":{"rendered":"Pentagon blocks officers from Ivy League and other top schools, including partners on AI and space"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img src=\"https:\/\/fortune.com\/img-assets\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/GettyImages-1362368150-e1772319228293.jpg?w=2048\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth is overhauling the list of schools that military officers can attend for professional courses and graduate programs.<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>In a memo on Friday on professional military education institutions, he announced the elimination of certain Senior Service College fellowship programs for the 2026-2027 academic year and beyond.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe must develop strategic thinkers through education grounded in the founding principles and documents of the republic, embracing peace through strength and American ideals, and focused on our national strategies and grounded in realism,\u201d he wrote. \u201cWe will no longer invest in institutions that fail to sharpen our leaders\u2019 warfighting capabilities or that undermine the very values they are sworn to defend.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The list of canceled institutions includes Ivy League schools Harvard, MIT, Yale, Columbia, Brown and Princeton as well as other top universities like Carnegie Mellon and Johns Hopkins University\u2019s School of Advanced International Studies.<\/p>\n<p>That comes after the Pentagon chief said earlier this month that he would\u00a0cancel\u00a0professional military education, fellowships, and certificate programs with Harvard.<\/p>\n<p>In his memo, Hegseth also included a list of potential new partners schools: Liberty University, George Mason University, Pepperdine, University ofTennessee, University of Michigan, University of Nebraska, University of North Carolina, Clemson, and Baylor, among others.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFor decades, the Ivy League and similar institutions have gorged themselves on a trust fund of American taxpayer dollars, only to become factories of anti-American resentment and military disdain,\u201d Hegseth said in a video posted on X on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>Despite his accusation that the schools on his banned list are \u201canti-American,\u201d some of them have been partners with the military on key emerging priorities. <\/p>\n<p>For example, the Army\u2019s Artificial Intelligence Integration Center is located at Carnegie Mellon University, which has long been a top source of AI innovation. <\/p>\n<p>The center is meant to increase the Army\u2019s familiarity with AI applications and better connect the service with AI leaders in the private sector.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, the Space Force partnered with the Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies\u00a0for officer intermediate level education and senior level education.<\/p>\n<p>Representatives for the Army\u2019s AI center and the Space Force didn\u2019t immediately respond to requests for comment on how Hegseth\u2019s directive will affect partnerships with their respective schools.<\/p>\n<p>The change comes as the Trump administration is cutting off Anthropic as a provider of AI technology to the federal government, including the Defense Department, while expanding ties with OpenAI and xAI.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>#Pentagon #blocks #officers #Ivy #League #top #schools #including #partners #space<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth&hellip;
