Mackie\u2019s is growing internationally<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Mackie\u2019s of Scotland, the family-owned dairy business, has reported an 11% rise in turnover to a record \u00a324.8 million, but said cost pressures had impacted on its margins and profit, which rose by just 3%.<\/p>\n

In the 12 months to the end of May 2025 cream prices averaged 37% higher than in the preceding financial year.<\/p>\n

Continued UK sales growth came from growing distribution and increasing brand awareness. The company\u2019s products landed on 2,110 more retail store shelves, with increases in Tesco (+11%), Sainsburys (+20%), Morrisons (+54%) and ASDA (+17%).<\/p>\n

Stuart Common, managing director, said:<\/strong>\u00a0\u201cThese results come down to sticking to what we believe in and not cutting corners. <\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ve always taken a long-term view, whether that\u2019s how we make our ice cream, how we look after the farm, or how we invest in the business and our staff.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re proud to be growing, but just as proud that we\u2019ve done it by focusing on quality, doing things properly and making products people genuinely love.\u201d<\/p>\n

He added: \u201cWe\u2019re realistic about the challenges ahead but remain intent on offering a product that embodies affordable luxury. <\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re also conscious that costs are still high and that households are under pressure, so we\u2019re keeping a close eye on how the market is changing.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat\u2019s why our focus is on building a business that\u2019s resilient and adaptable.\u201d<\/p>\n

Over the trading year, Mackie\u2019s won more than 300,000 new buyers across the UK compared to the previous year and was purchased by more than a quarter of households in Scotland, according to KantarWorldpanel.<\/p>\n

The company said it remains fully committed to reinvestment in its facilities and operations and substantial additional investments are being made in the current financial year. <\/p>\n

It has maintained a strong international presence, with 10% of revenue generated from overseas markets, particularly China, South Korea and Taiwan.<\/p>\n
