Snapchat announced<\/a> on Wednesday that it\u2019s hosting its first-ever awards show on March 21. The social media giant says the awards show, called \u201cThe Snappys,\u201d is designed to celebrate \u201cthe creators shaping culture on Snapchat.\u201d<\/p>\n Creators will receive awards like \u201cSpotlight MVP,\u201d \u201cBest Storyteller,\u201d and \u201cBreakout Creator of the Year,\u201d alongside awards across fashion, beauty, sports, music, food, and games. Additional categories include collaboration, comedy, and cultural impact.<\/p>\n \u201cTogether, these honors reflect the many ways creators spark conversations, build community, and define culture on Snapchat,\u201d the company wrote in a blog post<\/a>. \u201cThe Snappys reinforces Snapchat\u2019s ongoing commitment to celebrating creators not just as users, but as artists, entertainers, and cultural leaders.\u201d<\/p>\n Snapchat is the latest social media platform to launch awards for creators. Meta-owned Instagram introduced a new \u201cRing\u201d award<\/a> last October to recognize creators around the world. Instagram announced the 25 winners online, and each winner received a physical custom ring designed by English fashion designer Grace Wales Bonner, along with a digital golden ring around their Instagram profile.<\/p>\n
