{"id":2424,"date":"2025-12-10T19:10:27","date_gmt":"2025-12-10T19:10:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/microvibenews.com\/?p=2424"},"modified":"2025-12-10T19:10:27","modified_gmt":"2025-12-10T19:10:27","slug":"coalition-of-the-willing-nations-to-hold-call-on-ending-war-in-ukraine-ukraine","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/microvibenews.com\/?p=2424","title":{"rendered":"\u2018Coalition of the willing\u2019 nations to hold call on ending war in Ukraine | Ukraine"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">Leaders of the \u201ccoalition of the willing\u201d group of nations will hold a video call on Thursday as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/world\/2025\/dec\/04\/trump-ukraine-peace-envoys-prepare-meet-kyiv-official\" data-link-name=\"in body link\">chaotic American efforts to push through a peace deal<\/a> to end the war in Ukraine reach a crunch moment.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">Ukraine\u2019s president, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/world\/volodymyr-zelenskiy\" data-link-name=\"in body link\" data-component=\"auto-linked-tag\">Volodymyr Zelenskyy<\/a>, said his officials would hand over a revised version of a peace plan to US negotiators on Wednesday before the call with leaders and officials from about 30 countries.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">Zelenskyy will be on the call, along with Britain\u2019s Keir Starmer, France\u2019s Emmanuel Macron and Germany\u2019s Friedrich Merz, who <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/world\/2025\/dec\/08\/ukraine-peace-deal-trump-zelenskyy-not-ready\" data-link-name=\"in body link\">had a four-way meeting in Downing Street on Monday<\/a>. In a repeat of previous cycles of Trump-led peace efforts, Zelenskyy has mobilised European leaders to come to his assistance when under pressure from the US president.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">Trump claimed earlier in the week that Zelenskyy had not even read his draft peace plan. \u201cRussia is, I believe, fine with it, but I\u2019m not sure that Zelenskyy is fine with it,\u201d said Trump.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">Numerous Russian officials have praised the Trump team\u2019s peace efforts, and Vladimir Putin welcomed the White House envoys Steve Witkoff and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/us-news\/jared-kushner\" data-link-name=\"in body link\" data-component=\"auto-linked-tag\">Jared Kushner<\/a> for five hours of talks in the Kremlin last week. Russia\u2019s foreign minister, Sergei Lavrov, said Trump was the only western leader with \u201can understanding of the reasons that made war in Ukraine inevitable\u201d.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">But sceptics say there is little sign that Russia is ready to sign a peace deal, even on the terms proposed by the White House, which include Kyiv giving up control of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/world\/2025\/aug\/18\/donbas-faultline-ukraine-russia-talks-putin-trump-zelenskyy\" data-link-name=\"in body link\">the entire Donbas region<\/a>. But clearly feeling pressured by statements from Trump and others in his orbit, Zelenskyy said on Tuesday evening he was \u201cready for elections\u201d. He said he would ask the US to supply proposals on how to hold a vote safely and request that MPs prepare legislation to allow an election.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">\u201cI am asking \u2026 the United States to help me, possibly together with European colleagues, to ensure security for the elections, and then in the next 60 to 90 days Ukraine will be ready to hold the elections. I personally have the will and readiness for this,\u201d Zelenskyy said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">On the frontline, Russia continued its assaults on the city of Pokrovsk and nearby Myrnohrad on Wednesday. The Ukrainian military said Russia was using \u201carmoured vehicles, cars and motorcycles\u201d to storm the northern part of Pokrovsk from the morning. Russia has already claimed control of the whole city but Kyiv says it holds the northern part.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">On Tuesday, Russia\u2019s top general, Valery Gerasimov, said Moscow\u2019s forces now controlled 30% of nearby Myrnohrad and that Putin had ordered them to complete the takeover of the town.
