President Donald Trump said in a social media post Saturday that Netflix will \u201cpay the consequences\u201d if it doesn\u2019t fire Susan Rice, who has served as the company\u2019s board of directors since 2018.<\/p>\n
Trump\u2019s comments came after Rice \u2014 a former ambassador to the United Nations who held diplomatic and advisory roles in the Obama and Biden administrations \u2014 appeared on the \u201cStay Tuned with Preet\u201d podcast<\/a> hosted by Preet Bhara and predicted that corporations that \u201ctake a knee\u201d to Trump will be \u201cheld accountable\u201d when Democrats return to power.<\/p>\n \u201cIf these corporations think that the Democrats, when they come back in power, are going to, you know, play by the old rules, and [\u2026] say, \u2018Oh, never mind. We\u2019ll forgive you for all the people you fired, all the policies and principles you\u2019ve violated, all, you know, the laws you\u2019ve skirted,\u2019 I think they\u2019ve got another thing coming,\u201d Rice said.<\/p>\n In response, Trump posted on his social network Truth Social<\/a>, \u201cNetflix should fire racist, Trump Deranged Susan Rice, IMMEDIATELY, or pay the consequences. She\u2019s got no talent or skills \u2013 Purely a political hack! HER POWER IS GONE, AND WILL NEVER BE BACK. How much is she being paid, and for what???\u201d<\/p>\n Trump\u2019s post also includes a screenshot of a post from far-right activist Laura Loomer criticizing Rice\u2019s comments and claiming, \u201cThe Netflix-Warner Bros. merger would result in a streaming monopoly, which the Obamas will have a significant stake in\u201d due to the deal between Netflix and the Obamas\u2019 production company Higher Ground<\/a>.<\/p>\n While Trump\u2019s post does not mention specific consequences, Netflix\u2019s massive Warner Bros. acquisition<\/a> will need to be approved by federal regulators. The streaming company\u2019s co-CEO Ted Sarandos reportedly met with Trump<\/a> before the deal was announced, with Trump subsequently saying that Netflix is a \u201cgreat company [\u2026] but it\u2019s a lot of market share, so we\u2019ll have to see what happens.\u201d<\/p>\n
