{"id":23844,"date":"2026-02-21T10:18:25","date_gmt":"2026-02-21T10:18:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/microvibenews.com\/?p=23844"},"modified":"2026-02-21T10:18:25","modified_gmt":"2026-02-21T10:18:25","slug":"2026-winter-olympics-polish-skater-has-facial-surgery-after-short-track-crash","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/microvibenews.com\/?p=23844","title":{"rendered":"2026 Winter Olympics: Polish skater has facial surgery after short track crash"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\"><b class=\"ssrcss-1xjjfut-BoldText e5tfeyi3\">Polish short track speed skater Kamila Sellier has undergone surgery after she was struck in the face by a blade in a serious crash at Milan-Cortina 2026.<\/b><\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Sellier was racing in the quarter-finals of the women&#8217;s 1500m on the final night of short track competition at the Milano Ice Skating Arena.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">She was brought down along with 14-time Olympic medallist Arianna Fontana of Italy and American Kristen Santos-Griswold, who was penalised for attempting an illegal pass that contributed to the crash.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">As Santos-Griswold fell, her skate caught Sellier and sliced her under her left eye.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Racing was paused while Sellier received attention behind the privacy of a white sheet.
