{"id":22929,"date":"2026-02-18T13:32:25","date_gmt":"2026-02-18T13:32:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/microvibenews.com\/?p=22929"},"modified":"2026-02-18T13:32:25","modified_gmt":"2026-02-18T13:32:25","slug":"indias-sarvam-wants-to-bring-its-ai-models-to-feature-phones-cars-and-smart-glasses","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/microvibenews.com\/?p=22929","title":{"rendered":"India&#8217;s Sarvam wants to bring its AI models to feature phones, cars and smart glasses"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<p id=\"speakable-summary\" class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Indian AI company Sarvam plans to bring its <a href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2026\/02\/18\/indian-ai-lab-sarvams-new-models-are-a-major-bet-on-the-viability-of-open-source-ai\/\">newly released AI models<\/a> to users by deploying them on Nokia feature phones, cars and its own smart glasses.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The company, <a href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2023\/12\/06\/indias-sarvam-ai-raises-41-million-from-lightspeed-khosla-peak-xv\/\">backed by the likes of Lightspeed, PeakXV, and Khosla Ventures<\/a>, said at the ongoing India AI Impact Summit in New Delhi that it is using edge models that take up only megabytes of space, can run on most phones with existing processors, and can work offline.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The company is teaming up with HMD to bring a conversational AI assistant to Nokia and HMD phones. A video demo showed a user clicking a dedicated AI button on a feature phone to converse with an AI assistant in a local language to get guidance on government schemes or local markets. It is not clear if all the AI features showcased at the event will work offline.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThrough edge AI, we want to bring intelligence to every phone, laptop, car, and even a new generation of devices,\u201d Tushar Goswamy, head of Edge AI at Sarvam, said during a presentation.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He said that the company has worked with Qualcomm to tune its models for the latter\u2019s chipsets. Sarvam didn\u2019t provide details on which devices the models will be deployed to. The company\u2019s co-founder, Pratyush Kumar, said the glasses are a \u201cbuilders\u2019 device\u201d and will be available in May.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Sarvam has so far operated largely in the enterprise market, offering its voice-focused models for use cases like customer support.
