Civil rights leader Jesse Jackson has died aged 84, family says<\/h2>\n<\/header>\n

The Rev Jesse Jackson<\/strong>, the civil rights activist and two-time presidential candidate, died on Tuesday aged 84, his family said, according to NBC News<\/a>.<\/p>\n

A statement from the Jackson family read:<\/p>\n

<\/svg>Our father was a servant leader \u2013 not only to our family, but to the oppressed, the voiceless, and the overlooked around the world.<\/em><\/p>\n

We shared him with the world, and in return, the world became part of our extended family.<\/em><\/p>\n

His unwavering belief in justice, equality, and love uplifted millions, and we ask you to honor his memory by continuing the fight for the values he lived by.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

The cause of Jackson\u2019s death was not given. His family said he died peacefully, surrounded by his loved ones.<\/p>\n
