Izzy Hammond – daughter of former Top Gear and Grand Tour presenter Richard – escaped unhurt as she crashed during a Formula E influencer event in Saudi Arabia.<\/b><\/p>\n
Competing in the Duals stage of the sport’s Evo Sessions, in which content creators go head-to-head for the fastest lap on behalf of two teams, the 25-year-old smashed into a barrier at turn 13 of the Jeddah Corniche Circuit.<\/p>\n
Afterwards, she said she had been checked over by medical staff and was in one piece before saying that “the car’s not”.<\/p>\n
She added: “My first thought when I was say in that wall was ‘oh my god, everyone’s watching, my dad’s watching.<\/p>\n
“‘He’s going to cry or something. Can someone just tell him I’m ok?'”<\/p>\n
Joking about the force of the impact, she said: “It wasn’t a small crash. If you’re going to crash, you’ve got to really crash.<\/p>\n
“I saw the wall coming and knew I was going to enter it at speed.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
