{"id":21144,"date":"2026-02-12T11:52:30","date_gmt":"2026-02-12T11:52:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/microvibenews.com\/?p=21144"},"modified":"2026-02-12T11:52:30","modified_gmt":"2026-02-12T11:52:30","slug":"guardian-nominated-for-more-than-20-honours-at-2026-press-awards-the-guardian","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/microvibenews.com\/?p=21144","title":{"rendered":"Guardian nominated for more than 20 honours at 2026 Press Awards | The Guardian"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">The Guardian has been nominated for more than 20 honours at this year\u2019s Press Awards, including for website of the year, daily newspaper of the year and newspaper of the year (daily and Sunday).<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">Twenty-seven entries from the Guardian have been <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thepressawards.com\/shortlist-1\" data-link-name=\"in body link\">shortlisted across 21 different categories<\/a> by the judges of the UK\u2019s prestigious journalism awards.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">Three Guardian journalists are nominated for broadsheet interviewer of the year: Charlotte Edwardes, Donald McRae and Simon Hattenstone, who is also shortlisted for broadsheet feature writer of the year.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">Malak A Tantesh, the Guardian\u2019s former Gaza correspondent, is nominated for young journalist of the year.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/australia-news\/audio\/2025\/dec\/30\/missing-amazon-disappearance-episode-one-full-story-podcast\" data-link-name=\"in body link\">Missing in the Amazon<\/a> is nominated for news podcast of the year. Hosted by Tom Phillips, the six-part investigative series uncovers the disappearance and murder of the Guardian journalist Dom Phillips and the Brazilian Indigenous defender Bruno Pereira as it explores the dangers of the Amazon and fight against organised crime.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/news\/series\/the-long-wave\" data-link-name=\"in body link\">The Long Wave newsletter<\/a>, which emerged from the Guardian\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/legacies-of-enslavement\/2024\/mar\/26\/legacies-of-enslavement-programme-overview-of-our-work\" data-link-name=\"in body link\">Legacies of Enslavement<\/a> programme, is recognised on the shortlist for the excellence in diversity award.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">Diane Taylor is shortlisted for scoop of the year for her exclusive on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/uk-news\/2025\/oct\/22\/man-sent-to-france-under-one-in-one-out-scheme-returns-to-uk-on-small-boat\" data-link-name=\"in body link\">return of an Iranian man to the UK<\/a> on a small boat after being sent back to France under the \u201cone in, one out\u201d scheme.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">Josh Halliday, North of England editor, is shortlisted for news reporter of the year for his <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/uk-news\/2025\/oct\/03\/manchester-synagogue-terrorist-was-on-bail-for-alleged\" data-link-name=\"in body link\">revelations<\/a> about the Manchester synagogue killer, Jihad al-Shamie; his work on the Guardian investigation on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/society\/ng-interactive\/2025\/mar\/24\/nobody-found-him-in-time-how-neglect-and-stress-led-to-the-deaths-of-a-full-time-carer-and-his-son\" data-link-name=\"in body link\">carer\u2019s allowance scandal<\/a>; and his exclusive on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/education\/2025\/jun\/20\/parents-of-genevieve-meehan-baby-killed-at-nursery-call-for-mandatory-cctv\" data-link-name=\"in body link\">death of nine-month old Genevieve Meehan<\/a>, killed by a nursery worker.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">The political editor, Pippa Crerar, is nominated for political journalist of the year. Liz Cookman, who reported from Ukraine, is shortlisted for foreign reporter of the year for her work for the Guardian. Rob Davies makes the business and finance journalist shortlist.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">Alexis Petridis, the chief rock and pop critic, and the restaurant reviewer Grace Dent are both nominated for critic of the year.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">Two Guardian entries are shortlisted for broadsheet front page of the year: \u201cQueens of Europe\u201d by Clare Margetson on the England Lionesses\u2019s Euro 2025 victory, and \u201cAmerican Dread\u201d, on Donald Trump\u2019s re-election, by David Teather.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">The Guardian\u2019s Saturday magazine is up for supplement of the year and the Guardian is also shortlisted for news website of the year. The Guardian app redesign is nominated for best audience engagement initiative.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">Sam Wollaston\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/society\/2024\/nov\/13\/nine-hours-52-minutes-did-dave-strachan-ambulance-wait-cost-him-his-life\" data-link-name=\"in body link\">feature series The Wait<\/a>, giving a human dimension to NHS waiting times and vividly highlighting the experiences of three different individuals, earns him a place on the shortlist for health journalist of the year.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">The science and technology journalist of the year shortlist includes the Guardian entry by Harry Davies and Yuval Abraham.
