Interim chair of shipbuilder Ferguson Marine, Duncan Anderson, has been confirmed permanently in the role.<\/p>\n
A chartered engineer with extensive experience across the marine sector, Mr Anderson has worked for more than 40 years in shipbuilding, offshore operations and marine engineering.<\/p>\n
He has been Interim chair since November, having joined the Ferguson Marine Port Glasgow board as a non-executive director specialising in shipbuilding last March. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Marine Engineers.<\/p>\n
Deputy First Minister Kate Forbes said: \u201cDuncan has demonstrated strong leadership, technical acumen and a practical understanding of complex shipbuilding operations. He is highly regarded by staff and management at the yard, having built constructive relationships with the workforce.<\/p>\n
\u201cHis background and proven track record make him well-qualified to provide strategic direction and stability for Ferguson Marine at this critical stage. I am confident that he will deliver on the Scottish Government\u2019s priorities of completing the Glen Rosa and securing a sustainable future for the shipyard and its workforce.\u201d<\/p>\n
Mr Anderson will be paid in line with pay policy for board appointments.<\/p>\n
Before joining FMPG, he served as chief executive of Gulf Marine Services, a company with an in-house shipyard which builds self-propelled jack-up rigs for offshore operations. <\/p>\n
Under his leadership, the company expanded its fleet from four to 14 and was floated on the London Stock Exchange. <\/p>\n
Other previous senior roles with towage and marine services firm Lamnalco, oil and gas shipping firm Gulf Offshore, and P&O Scottish Ferries means Mr Anderson has extensive commercial, technical and leadership experience across the marine sector.<\/p>\n
