As my colleague, <strong>Matilda Boseley<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/australia-news\/2025\/dec\/04\/under-16s-are-already-fleeing-to-apps-not-covered-by-australias-social-media-ban-heres-where-theyre-going\" data-link-name=\"in body link\">reported last week<\/a>, teens were going to these apps in preparation for their accounts on the other sites being shut down.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">The eSafety commissioner, <strong>Julie Inman Grant<\/strong>, said <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/australia-news\/audio\/2025\/dec\/10\/no-playbook-for-this-the-esafety-commissioner-on-her-world-first-social-media-ban-full-story-podcast\" data-link-name=\"in body link\">on the Full Story podcast<\/a> that she was mindful teens may migrate to other platforms, and more could be expected to comply in the future. Officers arrived to find a very young girl had been hit by a ute on the property.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">The toddler was treated by paramedics at the scene and taken to a local hospital in critical condition, where she later died.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">The driver was uninjured and taken to the hospital for mandatory testing.
