{"id":20745,"date":"2026-02-11T06:32:32","date_gmt":"2026-02-11T06:32:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/microvibenews.com\/?p=20745"},"modified":"2026-02-11T06:32:32","modified_gmt":"2026-02-11T06:32:32","slug":"google-expands-tools-to-let-users-remove-sensitive-data-about-themselves-from-search","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/microvibenews.com\/?p=20745","title":{"rendered":"Google expands tools to let users remove sensitive data about themselves from Search"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<p id=\"speakable-summary\" class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As part of Safer Internet Day, Google <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.google\/products-and-platforms\/products\/search\/remove-explicit-images\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">unveiled updates<\/a> to its \u201cResults about you\u201d and non-consensual explicit image removal tools. <\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The \u201cResults about you\u201d tool already allows users to remove Search results containing their phone number, email address, or home address, and it can now also be used to request the removal of results that include information such as a driver\u2019s license, passport, or Social Security number, the company said in the update Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You can access the tool in the Google app by tapping your Google account photo and selecting \u201cResults about you.\u201d If it\u2019s your first time using the tool, you need to click \u201cGet started\u201d and then add the personal contact information you want to monitor. You\u2019ll then be prompted to add your government ID numbers. Existing users can add their ID numbers and select which ones they want to monitor.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Once you\u2019ve confirmed your details, Google will automatically monitor Search results and notify you if it finds results that contain your information. Google plans to bring it to additional regions in the future.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The tech giant also announced that it\u2019s making it easier to request the removal of non-consensual explicit images on Search. Now, users just have to click on the three dots on an image, select \u201cremove result,\u201d then tap \u201cIt shows a sexual image of me.\u201d Additionally, you no longer need to report images one by one, as you can now select and submit requests for multiple images from Search results using a single form.
