Starmer insists he will ‘never walk away’ from task he has to change UK, as he urges Labour to stop feuding<\/h2>\n<\/header>\n
Keir Starmer<\/strong> is speaking at an event in Hertfordshire.<\/p>\n
He starts with a reference to the events of yesterday \u2013 saying there has been a lot of politics around recently.<\/p>\n
But he is focused on the cost of living, he says. He says he knows what it is like to struggle, because when he was growing up his family couldn\u2019t always pay their bills.<\/p>\n
He says he leads the most working-class cabinet in history.<\/p>\n
He says people are still being held back by their backgrounds.<\/p>\n
He says that the system did not work for people like his brother, who spent \u201chis adult life wandering from job to job in virtual poverty\u201d. And other people are in the same situtation, he says.<\/p>\n
He says he is fighting to help \u201cyoung people who don\u2019t get the opportunities they deserve\u201d, and the \u201cmillions of people held back because of a system that doesn\u2019t work for them\u201d.<\/p>\n
He says he wants to ensure people get the \u201cdignity, the respect, the chance that they deserve\u201d.<\/p>\n
