{"id":19532,"date":"2026-02-07T02:17:48","date_gmt":"2026-02-07T02:17:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/microvibenews.com\/?p=19532"},"modified":"2026-02-07T02:17:48","modified_gmt":"2026-02-07T02:17:48","slug":"trump-refuses-to-apologize-for-video-with-racist-imagery-of-obamas-posted-on-his-social-media-donald-trump","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/microvibenews.com\/?p=19532","title":{"rendered":"Trump refuses to apologize for video with racist imagery of Obamas posted on his social media | Donald Trump"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">Donald Trump said on Friday evening, after a racist video depicting Barack and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/us-news\/michelleobama\" data-link-name=\"in body link\" data-component=\"auto-linked-tag\">Michelle Obama<\/a> as apes had been posted to his social media account and then deleted, that he had directed aides to post the offensive video but that he hadn\u2019t seen that portion of the clip and he refused to apologize for it.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">The clip appeared during one of the 79-year-old US president\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/us-news\/2025\/dec\/02\/trumps-truth-social-post-health\" data-link-name=\"in body link\">increasingly frequent<\/a> late-night posting sprees to his Truth Social account, and shows the laughing faces of the former president and first lady superimposed on the bodies of primates in a jungle setting, bobbing to the song The Lion Sleeps Tonight.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">They appear briefly at the end of a minute-long video made by a third party that amplifies Trump\u2019s persistent but false claim that he won the 2020 election, when in fact he lost to Joe Biden. The conspiracy-theory video is a repost of content stamped with the logo of the website Patriot News Outlet, a site supportive of Trump, a Republican.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">Although the White House initially defended the video in a statement from the press secretary, the video was later deleted and reporters were told that it had been posted, without the president\u2019s knowledge, by an aide.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">Natalie Harp, an aide to Trump, and a former anchor for the conspiratorial One American News, <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/alaynatreene\/status\/2019900800894661104\" data-link-name=\"in body link\">reportedly<\/a> has access to the president\u2019s Truth Social account.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">As he so often does, Trump undercut efforts by his aides to explain away his own behavior by telling reporters that he did approve posting the video. \u201cI just looked at the first part,\u201d the president said. \u201cI didn\u2019t see the whole thing; I guess during the end of it there was some kind of a [thing] that people don\u2019t like. I wouldn\u2019t like it either. But I didn\u2019t see it, I just, I looked at the first part\u2026 then I gave it to the people. Generally they look at the whole thing, but I guess somebody didn\u2019t and they posted \u2013 and we took it down.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">Asked if he would apologize, as even Republican officials have suggested he should, Trump bristled. \u201cNo, I didn\u2019t make a mistake,\u201d said the president of the racist meme posted on his social media account.<strong> <\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">By mid-morning ET Friday, the post had attracted about 5,600 likes but also garnered outrage from both sides of the aisle for the inclusion of such a blatant racist trope about the US\u2019s first Black president and his wife, both Democrats. However only a smattering of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/us-news\/republicans\" data-link-name=\"in body link\" data-component=\"auto-linked-tag\">Republicans<\/a> had spoken out and none from the party\u2019s congressional leadership.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">Tim Scott, a South Carolina senator, the only Black Republican in the US Senate and a former contender for the party\u2019s presidential nomination , posted <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/votetimscott\/status\/2019784005852242083\" data-link-name=\"in body link\">on X<\/a>: \u201cPraying it was fake because it\u2019s the most racist thing I\u2019ve seen out of this White House. The President should remove it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">The White House, earlier in the morning, defended the post and mocked the media for highlighting the scandal. But then around midday on Friday the post was taken down from Trump\u2019s Truth Social account and the White House claimed that posting it had been a mistake by a staffer.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">Earlier, Mike Lawler, the Republican congressman from New York, had <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/lawler4ny\/status\/2019792475230027868\" data-link-name=\"in body link\">posted<\/a>: \u201cThe President\u2019s post is wrong and incredibly offensive \u2013 whether intentional or a mistake \u2013 and should be deleted immediately with an apology offered.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">Trump\u2019s post just before midnight on Thursday had been quickly condemned by the social media account Republicans against Trump, but GOP leadership voices were not to be heard.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">\u201cWhy are GOP leaders like [Senate majority leader] John Thune continuing to stand by this sick individual? Every single Republican must immediately denounce Donald Trump\u2019s disgusting bigotry,\u201d said Hakeem Jeffries, the Democratic House minority leader and New York congressman, in <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/RepJeffries\/status\/2019777034138927221\" data-link-name=\"in body link\">a post<\/a> on X.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">Jeffries hailed the Obamas as \u201cbrilliant, compassionate and patriotic Americans\u201d and denounced Trump as \u201ca vile, unhinged and malignant bottom feeder\u201d.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">Neither of the top two Republicans in Congress, Thune and Mike Johnson, the House speaker, offered comment, prompting Chuck Schumer, a New York Democrat and the Senate minority leader, to <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/SenSchumer\/status\/2019798567418777838\" data-link-name=\"in body link\">post<\/a> on X: \u201cRacist. Vile. Abhorrent. She linked to a post on X last October by a separate rightwing account, which features a 55-second <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/xerias_x\/status\/1981716010483753013\" data-link-name=\"in body link\">video<\/a> from which the Obama clip appears to have been taken. It begins with the Obamas depicted as apes, later shows Biden\u2019s head superimposed on a monkey body and other prominent Democrats depicted as other animals, while Trump is shown as a male lion.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">\u201cThis is from an internet meme video depicting President Trump as the King of the Jungle and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/us-news\/democrats\" data-link-name=\"in body link\" data-component=\"auto-linked-tag\">Democrats<\/a> as characters from the Lion King. Please stop the fake outrage and report on something today that actually matters to the American public,\u201d Leavitt said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) rejected Leavitt\u2019s response, and called Trump\u2019s video \u201cblatantly racist, disgusting, and utterly despicable\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Derrick Johnson, the group\u2019s national president, said in a statement: \u201cTrump is obviously desperate to distract us from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/us-news\/jeffrey-epstein\" data-link-name=\"in body link\">Epstein files<\/a> and his rapidly failing economy. You know who isn\u2019t in the Epstein files? Barack Obama. You know who actually improved the economy as president?
