We are opening today\u2019s live blog with breaking news coming to us from Moscow that a deputy chief of Russian military intelligence was shot and wounded Friday,<\/strong> officials said, in comments reported by AP.<\/p>\n

Lt Gen Vladimir Alekseyev<\/strong> was shot several times by an unidentified assailant in Moscow, Investigative Committee spokesperson Svetlana Petrenko<\/strong> said in a statement.<\/p>\n

She said that Alekseyev was hospitalised. Petrenko didn\u2019t say who could be behind the attack Alekseyev has served as the first deputy head of Russia<\/strong>\u2019s military intelligence since 2011.<\/p>\n

AFP noted that several high-ranking military officials have been killed since Moscow launched its full-scale offensive on Ukraine<\/a> in February 2022.<\/p>\n
