Elon Musk\u2019s X offices in Paris have been searched by French law enforcement\u2019s cybercrime unit as part of an ongoing probe into alleged misuses of the social media platform.<\/p>\n
Musk and former X CEO Linda Yaccarino, as the de facto managers of the platform, were summoned for voluntary hearings taking place in April, the Paris prosecutor said in a statement on Tuesday. The prosecutor will also summon other X employees to speak, it said.<\/p>\n

Police are looking into lawmakers\u2019 allegations that the X platform hosted and was used to distribute child sexual abuse material, as well as posts denying crimes against humanity.<\/p>\n
It\u2019s also been accused of fraudulently extracting and falsifying data. At this stage, prosecutor Laure Beccuau said that the investigation is \u201cpart of a constructive approach, with the ultimate goal of ensuring that X complies with French law\u201d.<\/p>\n

A representative for X didn\u2019t immediately respond to a request for comment. Yaccarino, who left her role in July, couldn\u2019t immediately be reached.<\/p>\n
\nLast year, the Paris prosecutor opened an investigation into the social media platform\u2019s algorithms, probing alleged bias and manipulation.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
Prosecutors requested access to its recommendation engine and data on user posts, prompting X to\u00a0deny\u00a0the allegations and refuse to comply what it described as a \u201cpolitically-motivated criminal investigation\u201d.<\/p>\n
Grok<\/strong><\/p>\n
The probe was widened to X\u2019s Grok, an AI chatbot that has been in the cross-hairs of regulators in multiple countries after users generated undressed images of children and non-consenting women and posted them to X.<\/p>\n

\nXAI, which owns the X platform, has since said it has\u00a0disabled\u00a0the ability for people to use Grok to create sexualised images of real people.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
