The charity of Sarah Ferguson has announced that it is closing after new revelations emerged about the former duchess\u2019s friendship with convicted child sex offender Jeffrey Epstein<\/a>.<\/p>\n Sarah\u2019s Trust, the international charity launched by the ex-wife of Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor<\/a>, will close \u201cfor the foreseeable future\u201d after \u201csome months\u201d of discussion, according to a spokesperson.<\/p>\n It comes after a new trove of about 3 million files<\/a> related to Epstein were released by the US Department of Justice on Friday, offering new details about the disgraced financier\u2019s interactions with wealthy and powerful figures.<\/p>\n Among these files were more revelations about Epstein\u2019s contact with Mountbatten-Windsor, formerly Prince Andrew, and Ferguson \u2013 which included evidence of Ferguson calling Epstein<\/a> the \u201cbrother\u201d she \u201calways wished for\u201d.<\/p>\n \u201cOur chair Sarah Ferguson<\/a> and the board of trustees have agreed that with regret the charity will shortly close for the foreseeable future. This has been under discussion and in train for some months,\u201d a spokesperson from Sarah\u2019s Trust said.<\/p>\n \u201cWe remain extremely proud of the work of the trust over recent years. We have partnered with over 60 other charities in over 20 countries, providing education, healthcare, crisis response and environmental projects.<\/p>\n \u201cWe delivered over 150,000 aid parcels during the Covid pandemic, provided medical aid and training for those affected by the war in Ukraine<\/a> and delivered education for over 200 children in Ghana.\u201d<\/p>\n The closing of Sarah\u2019s Trust comes after seven charities, including the Teenage Cancer Trust and children\u2019s hospice, have previously cut ties and revoked Ferguson\u2019s patronage <\/a>due to her links with Epstein.<\/p>\n
