Unfortunately, we are now dangerously dependent on a handful of countries outside the EU for the supply of these materials,\u201d said Pentus-Rosimannus.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">The report comes as EU industry commissioner St\u00e9phane S\u00e9journ\u00e9 said Europe was \u201cdoomed to be just a playground for its competitors\u201d unless it develops \u201can ambitious, effective and pragmatic industrial policy\u201d.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">The ECA concluded that \u201cefforts to diversify imports have yet to produce tangible results\u201d, noting that partnerships with seven countries that have poor governance resulted in supplies falling rather than increasing between 2020 and 2024.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">Of the main 26 critical minerals, 10 are fully imported, while none of the 17 rare earth metals are mined in the bloc.
