Strathberry, the Edinburgh-based handbag designer, has posted a sharp increase in profit and turnover as its A-list customer base helps shield it from wider retail pressures.<\/p>\n
Husband and wife founders Leeanne and Guy Hundleby have attracted a celebrity following that includes the Princess of Wales, Duchess of Sussex, Jennifer Lopez and Zara Tindall.<\/p>\n
They have helped stimulate global demand and in the year to the end of April 2025 pushed the company\u2019s revenue 35% higher to \u00a336.4 million (2024: \u00a326.4m). Pre-tax profit came in at \u00a35.3m from \u00a32.5m in the previous 12 months. Online revenue grew 41%.<\/p>\n
Wholesale partnerships continued to grow following successful markets at New York, Paris and London fashion weeks,<\/p>\n
The company said it has continued to maintain revenue growth momentum into the current financial year, supported by product launches. <\/p>\n
Its record results were in spite of the closure of the store in the King\u2019s Road, London. A second Edinburgh store opened during the period.<\/p>\n
The Princess of Wales is seen with the company\u2019s bags so often she is almost a brand ambassador. From April, the princess will have the capacity to bestow\u00a0royal warrants, and homegrown fashion brands are hoping to be on the list. <\/p>\n
Strathberry operates out of a Georgian townhouse in Melville Street and sends its designs to Ubrique in Andalusia where they are the bags are made in the region\u2019s leather workshops.<\/p>\n
